Snowdrop Day at Hartland Abbey

Sadly this lovely event has been cancelled this year since the heavy rain has waterlogged the parking area. However there will still be plenty of beautiful early spring flowers on Daffodil Day in March, which will still go ahead as planned.

Daffodil Day at Hartland Abbey, Hartland, 17th March. It will be a lovely chance to come with the family to see the wonderful collection of historic daffodils, many planted 150 years ago. In the past few years many more have been transplanted from Grenville College, formerly Moreton House, home to the Stucley family until 1950. Our wild flower days have now become established as really good fun days out for everyone including the dogs, of which literally hundreds turned up last year (with their owners)!

Bluebell Sundays at Hartland Abbey, Hartland. 21st/28th April. The bluebells at Hartland Abbey stretch from the Walled Gardens to the sea. This year, the Abbey is holding two Bluebell Sundays events so everyone can choose the best day to visit and see the beautiful house and grounds enhanced by the glorious bluebell haze.

There should be lots of other lovely plants out in the gardens; the early rhododendrons, camellias, tulips and later bulbs and early perennials amongst others. There will be plenty of opportunity for walking (including with your dogs) with 3½ miles within the Abbey grounds.

The house and grounds will be open on Sunday 21st to Sunday 28th April with the museum and shop open too. The Tea Rooms will be open on these days serving hot soup, light lunches and home made cream teas. Sam and Em Stone of Exmoor Kitchen will again be producing their wonderful homemade barbecue food on the two Sundays. Do come!
