Roses, lilies and the promise of 8 foot orange blooms!

Lana Borrett gives us this latest update from the lovely Docton Mill Gardens & Tea Room:

"Now is the time to enjoy the roses. Our scented ‘Felicia’ rose bank, about 100 feet long and full of roses, is a joy to the senses.  ‘Rambling Rector’, ‘Wedding Day’ and many more climbing roses are prolific now, and the ‘Champagne’ yellow roses in the summer garden enhance the hot border.

July is the month of the lilies, Vibrant orange in the summer garden, ‘African Queen’ are bobbing at the back of the border. And, for the first time ever, we are growing Cannas. These amazing plants, which seem to be growing about 10cm a day, promise eight foot tropical orange blooms in the stream garden, probably coming into flower in August.

Also worth mentioning are our large collection of hardy geraniums which, in hues of pink, purple and white, pull the garden together beautifully.

In the tearoom we have a lovely selection of teas to enjoy.  Loose leaf Kamelia Budd teas, blended locally, and Neal’s Yard infusions are particularly refreshing on hot summer days.  Or why not try a cool Elderflower or Ginger and Lemongrass cordial. Enjoy with homemade fruit cake, coffee cake, lemon drizzle and our ever popular chocolate sponge.

We look forward to seeing you!"
