South West Coast Path
The world renowned 630 mile South West Coast path goes from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset, and although the Hartland Quay to Bude section is generally regarded as the toughest part of the whole walk, it richly rewards those prepared to make the effort with unparalleled scenery.
However, there are also much gentler, level sections of the path on the Peninsula and connecting footpaths and circular walks offer easy access on and off the route – making it possible for everyone to enjoy it.

The excellent South West Coast Path website contains detailed information including maps, the level of difficulty, safety information and what you may see. Or download one of our Hartland Peninsula walks or trails, right, many of which follow parts of the coast path as part of the circular route.
The North Devon AONB’s Explore the Coast website provides interactive information, routes, history and interesting facts and is a great way to get to know the coastline and find new routes.
Walking elsewhere on the Peninsula
It’s very easy to just explore: all the footpaths, bridleways, permissive paths and lanes are clearly marked and the Walkers are Welcome Accolade means that the whole community welcomes you here, provided you follow the five parts of the Countryside Code: follow signs; leave gates and property as you find them; protect plants and animals and take your litter home; keep dogs under control; consider other people.
In addition use Explorer Map 126 to find all paths and bridleways, sites of interest, lanes and different types of terrain.
