Small School Cottage

“A superb cottage in a lovely location. The property is fitted out to a high standard, and the ethos around sustainability makes a refreshing change. Thank you!” – Justine

The Small School Cottage is an elegantly simple retreat in the centre of the village. Escape from your busy lives and relax with us at the Resurgence Centre.

The Small School Cottage has been renovated to a high standard and is the perfect place to relax, providing a wonderful base from which to enjoy the unique walks, historical harbour villages and ancient woodlands around Hartland.

The cottage sleeps 4 people upstairs in two rooms. There is a fully fitted kitchen and two bathrooms, one with a double shower. Visitors can enjoy the large tranquil garden with decking area and outdoor furniture. The garden is shared.

The cosy sitting room has a woodburner, sofa, dining table seating up to four people, and a small library of books and games.

The kitchen has been hand-crafted in wood and slate to a high standard, and is well equipped with a breakfast bar, dishwasher and electric range cooker. The kitchen leads out to the garden.

The cottage has fast wifi – 53 Mbps, verified by speed test, but purposefully does not have a TV.

Central heating is provided by a pellet boiler located in the garden, with individual controls within the cottage.

There is a private entrance with free on-site parking. Visitors can use the Electric car charging facility for a small extra cost. The cottage is accessible for disabled visitors.

Formerly part of The Small School, Hartland, the Small School Cottage is now part of The Resurgence Centre which is managed by The Resurgence Trust. As an environmental charity, The Resurgence Trust aims to foster a greater connection to Nature to enhance personal wellbeing, support resilient communities and inform social change towards regenerative societies that enrich our natural environment.

To reflect the values of the charity, the cottage has an eco-friendly ethos. The buildings at The Resurgence Centre have a negative carbon footprint and many features in the cottage have been hand-built in reclaimed materials by a local craftsman.

We have a strictly over 10 years of age policy and ask guest to respect the house rule that only vegetarian/vegan cuisine is prepared and consumed at the cottage and within the grounds of The Resurgence Centre.
