The Anchor is a 16th Century coaching inn, comprising a pub, hotel and restaurant. It is situated in the heart of Hartland village, with all its amenities, two miles from the coast. With advance notice we can provide lifts to and from the Hartland section of the coastal footpath.
The Anchor has been the subject of extensive renovation and refurbishment in the past three years, and we are proud to offer bed and breakfast in nine beautifully appointed rooms. We also have a two-bedroomed self-catering flat for let, which is dog-friendly.
We are open every day from 11am until late, serving both lunch and dinner. Our chef and the team serve fine food in the dining room or in our cosy bar, which has a wood-burning stove. In the summer we also serve food outside on our south-facing sun terrace with lovely rural views. A wide choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes are always on the menu. Wednesday is Curry Night, when we serve at least three different curries alongside our usual menu; Thursday is Steak Night, with special offers on steak dinners. Dogs are allowed in both the bar and the dining room. Packed lunches and takeaway meals are available on request.
We serve an extensive range of wines, spirits, lagers and local real ales and ciders in our bar, which regularly hosts live music and a range of other events (see our website at www.anchorhartland.co.uk for details). We have both an upright and a baby grand piano, along with several guitars, which people are very welcome to play. We also have darts and a free pool table in the bar.
