The Church Rooms Coffee Shop
Throughout the summer, when the yellow signs are out in the main Hartland Village car park, then the Church Rooms Coffee Shop is open for business 10am – 1pm. Run by local ladies, everything is served with a generous helping of rural devon hospitality. It’s the perfect refreshment stop when out and about in Hartland, visiting the potteries and galleries or stocking up. Enjoy morning coffee, cream teas, cakes, buns, scones and shortbread. They even have wi-fi for your convenience. Winter months on Tuesdays and Fridays and during summer most mornings.
Docton Mill Gardens and Tea Room – Award Winner
Walk the beautiful gardens, enjoy an award winning cream tea or lunch and buy rare and lovely plants at Docton Mill Gardens and Tearoom. Often featured in the press, this beautiful place captured the owners’ hearts from the moment they laid eyes on it – and their appreciation and enjoyment of the setting and lifestyle shines through everything they do. Try the seafood platter, Brixham crab sandwiches, locally reared rare roast beef salads, warm treacle tart or the owner’s favourite: Docton Mill Chocolate Pudding made with rich dark chocolate, cherries, rolled oats and served with clotted cream or Italian style ice cream. Hartland Abbey Tea Rooms
Probably the most important historic house in North Devon, the Abbey was originally built in the 12th Century, was gifted by Henry VIII during the Reformation in 1539 and has been in the same family ever since. Today it is very much home to Lord Hugh and Lady Angela Stucley, their four married children, ten grandchildren and many dogs. The grounds and walks to the beach are beautiful, the house is a treasure trove of architecture and decoration from many periods and showcases the belongings, artefacts and collections of generations of family members. The Tea Rooms are housed in the Old Kitchen and there is outdoor seating in the courtyard. They offer delicious, well priced cream teas, cakes and lunches, with much made on the premises and sourced locally, or picnic boxes to take into the grounds. Admission payable. The Old Bakery Coffee Shop
New in 2015, right on The Square in Hartland, this fantastic family-run coffee shop has already gathered rave Trip Advisor and Facebook reviews from very happy customers. It offers exceptional locally sourced light lunches, pasties, cream teas, cakes and desserts, Hartland artisan ice cream and an excellent range of coffees and hot and cold drinks. Open seven days a week, all year round, credit & debit cards are accepted and special diets catered for. All the customers report a very, very friendly welcome, it is exceptionally child-friendly and the cakes get the best feedback of all! Well behaved dogs welcome. Open all year.
The Point Kiosk at Hartland Point
Another unique business sited on one of the most iconic parts of the SW coastpath. Run by the irrepressible Amy and staff with al-fresco seating the kiosk offers excellent coffees and teas; rave-reviewed cream teas and homemade cakes; hot, fresh paninis; homemade soups and local ice creams. You can drive and park (£2 toll fee to the land owner), cycle or walk directly on the coastpath. Really great quality food at exceptionally good value in a totally unparalleled setting. The Wreckers at Hartland Quay
Nestled right on the water’s edge amidst the spectacular beauty of Hartland Quay, The Wreckers is part of The Hartland Quay Hotel. It serves morning coffee and afternoon tea, including delicious cream teas, local ice creams and of course has its full pub menu plus local beers, ciders and plenty of wines and spirits to choose from.
