Philham Water Cottage
Philham Water Cottage is a charming and romantic hideaway for two, straight out of a fairytale. Sitting beside a stream and two miles from the dramatic coast, it is perfect for walks with your dog or cosy fireside time with a favourite book.
Its unique position in a secluded valley with a stream flowing a few meters from the front door, make it a perfect honeymoon destination and a place for escaping from the pressures of modern life to relax in natural surroundings. Yet, just 2 miles from historic Hartland Village with its shops, studios and eateries, it is also the ideal base to explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
With a wood burning stove set into the large fireplace, low ceilings and doorways, flagstone flooring, thick walls and uneven pathways, staying at Philham Water Cottage will be a unique experience and perhaps a reminder of what it was like, back in the days when life seemed relatively simple.
To preserve the rustic simplicity of this historic cottage that is over 500 years old, modern appliances, conveniences and comforts have been added judiciously including wifi, tv and music. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower. The cottage has its own water supply and eco septic system.
Most dogs will be welcome, but the owner requests that you contact her in advance, if you wish to bring one.
Fully equipped to accommodate a couple or two individuals, the bedroom upstairs has a queen bed, and the living room downstairs has a sofa that converts into another bed.
