Bay Tree cottage is a beautiful Victorian cottage located in the unspoilt village of Hartland on the breath taking North Devon Coast. Designated as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Hartland plays host to a delightful mixture of dramatic rugged coastline and stunning rural landscapes.
Bay Tree Cottage itself is sat proud and tall along what is known as The Quay right in the centre of the village. Bay Tree welcomes guests with its generous proportions and wonderfully high ceilings but remains cosy with its friendly layout. Simply step out of the door, cross the road and pick up your daily paper, pint of milk & fresh loaf of bread from the Post Office. The village also has a very well stocked grocery store with everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to a great selection of wine and beer. There are also a couple of local pubs, two potteries, three studios and a lovely coffee shop all within 50 yards of your front door.
Bay Tree offers guests self catering accommodation for up to 4 people in 2 bedrooms plus a cot or Z bed. The master bedroom easily accommodates a travel cot or Z Bed without compromising on the spaciousness of the room. The large master bedroom is dominated by a beautiful Victorian wrought iron king size bed which is covered in crisp white bed linen and dressed with Laura Ashley throws and cushions. Painted bedroom furniture in Annie Sloane and walls painted in Farrow and Ball make for a beautiful relaxing bedroom retreat. Complete with a TV and DVD player you can choose to escape with a book or indulge in movie.
The fun and nautical twin bedroom has 2 pine beds with gingham bed linen and fabulous Ian Mankin stripe curtains. A lovely room for children and adults alike.
A large bright and airy bathroom has a bath with over bath power shower, w/c and basin.
Relax in the cosy living room in front of the electric wood burner. Watch the TV or a DVD, read from the small book library, look through the local information or magazines or by play a board game.
Bay Tree has a fully equipped open plan kitchen dining room with electric hob, oven, grill with extractor fan, microwave oven, full height fridge/freezer and dishwasher as well as plenty of pots, pans, bowls, dishes, crockery and cutlery so you can cook as much or as little as you like. Enjoy eating either in the adjoining dining area or alfresco in the walled courtyard garden. A gorgeous south facing, part lawn part chipping garden with a large wooden round picnic table, benches and Weber Bar B Q. The large garden is not only south facing but is totally enclosed by a beautiful high stone wall.
From the kitchen you access the boot room. A fantastically versatile room which as well as housing the washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board, additional sink, storage and recycling area is just brilliant for parking your bicycles, your buggy or for storing your wellies and wetsuits. Not only can this room be accessed via the kitchen it also has another door which leads down the garden path and then straight outside.
