Mothering Sunday at Hartland Abbey

Hartland Abbey opens its doors for the first time this year for Mothering Sunday and Spring Bulbs on the 6th March 2016 11- 4pm.

Lady Stucley says, "We will be celebrating our first open day of 2016 on Mothering Sunday.

"After all the destruction of Storm Imogen with trees down everywhere and the depressing wet winter, spring is returning to the gardens of Hartland Abbey just in time. It will be a lovely opportunity to walk around the gardens and grounds with the magnolias, tree rhododendrons, stunning camellias, daffodils, scillas, hellebores and spring bulbs bursting into flower, at a reduced admission price. The Old Kitchens Tea Room will be producing hot soup, pasties, light lunches and their scrumptious homemade cakes and cream teas. The house will be open too between 1 – 4pm.

"A Family Treasure Hunt around the gardens encourages children and their parents to explore and to take lots of exercise! There will be a lovely log fire in the woodland Summerhouse to warm up by. Dogs are really welcome on leads and there may be an opportunity to let them off in the fields provided they are not peacock, sheep or guinea fowl chasers! Wellies are definitely advisable after all the wet weather!

"Lovely primrose walks lead to the beach and Blackpool Mill, the location for ‘The Lanyon’ in Sunday’s ‘The Night Manager’ with Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman, filmed in April 2015 in Hartland village and on the Hartland Abbey estate.

"Do come along for our first day of 2016 and give your mother a happy day out in this beautiful valley!

"As Easter is so early we will be opening on Good Friday for the Easter weekend when the daffodils should be at their best. There will be the usual Easter fun on Easter Sunday and Monday. There will be no Daffodil Day this year as it would have coincided with Easter."

Admission charges are: Adults: £5 Children: (over 5-15) £1
