Come and enjoy spring in the garden

Lana Borrett from Docton Mill Gardens and Tearoom has given us this latest update:

"This is a wonderful time of year in the garden. Not only have this year’s conditions been fantastic for blossom but everything else seems to be blooming extra vigorously.

The tree canopy is bursting out in many shades of spring green and fern fronds like huge Catherine wheels are opening everywhere. Our bluebells are only just coming up to their best (they tend to be later here than elsewhere owing to their position on the north side of the valley), and the scent is heavenly.

The woodland garden is an absolute delight with Epimediums, Solomon’s seal, Azaleas, Rhodedendrons and shuttleock ferns to name just a few.  In the stream gardens Primulas, including denticulata, and huge Gunnera are another highlight.  It’s an absolute dream to walk to the weir where the beech trees, wild garlic and bluebell woods must be seen. What better time to see the garden.

In the tearoom we have freshly made local crab and smoked salmon salads, available with the best ciabatta rolls. There’s also locally reared roast beef salads and of course the finest Westcountry pasties.  Round it all off with a slice of one of our delicious cakes – our coffee and walnut can’t be beaten!

Come and enjoy spring in the garden."

Entry to the tea room is free, for the gardens it’s £4.50 for adults, £4.25 for OAPs and U18s are free. Well behaved dogs welcome.  See www.doctonmill.co.uk or call  01237 441369
