Go rockpooling and crabbing
|
Rockpooling never loses its appeal: young and old alike can spend hours hopping from rock to rock and peering into miniature worlds. Find anemones, Sea Hares and Painted Topshells, hunt for prawns and mussels, find beautiful shells and amazing seaweeds. And on a rising tide lower your crab line (many accommodation providers have them to borrow, or buy them from the shop - they are very cheap) baited with a little bacon into the water and catch a crab. Pop him into your bucket and go back for the next one. You could catch your own supper (or better still, throw them back and enjoy a crab sandwich or seafood platter at the pub instead!). Best places to rockpool and go crabbing are Hartland Quay and Speke's Mill Mouth. Photograph courtesy of the North Devon AONB. |
